Theater Freiburg:
Depot Erbe

From 25 March to 1 May 2017 Theater Freiburg launched DEPOT ERBE (Heritage Depot), a ‘swap shop’ for cultural possessions, in co-operation with the Museum for New Art.

Choreographers and artists from across Europe came together in the theatre and museum to rethink the tradition of heritage: concepts of legacy, handing down and passing on were not only discussed but also practised: inheritors don’t own – they participate. DEPOT ERBE entered the terminology debate regarding sustainability and asked how you can process the past for the future – starting from cultural and physical memory. A five-week exhibition and opening conference invited visitors to continue cultural heritage as an unfinished legacy.
