Dr. Kerstin Evert
Dr. Evert studied Applied Theatre Science in Giessen and did her PhD on the topic of “DanceLab – Contemporary Dance and New Technologies”. From 2002 to 2006, she was the dramatic adviser at Kampnagel in Hamburg where she founded the choreographic centre K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg im August 2006 and remains its director. Since 2012, she has been co-director of the postgraduate programme Assemblies and Participation (HafenCity University, Fundus Theater, K3) and was a member of the jury for Tanzplattform Deutschland 2012 in Dresden.
PD Dr. Katja Schneider
Dr. Schneider studied Modern German Literature, Theatre Science and Philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich where she is currently research associate in the Theatre Studies department. Her teaching and research focuses on dance, performance, intermediality as well as 18th century and early modern theatre. She has worked as an editor for the dance journals tanzdrama, tanzjournal and tanz (1992–2012) and published the handbook Experimentelles Musik- und Tanztheater (Laaber 2004).
Bettina Wagner-Bergelt
Bettina Wagner-Bergelt studied German language and literature, film and theatre science, and Spanish literature in Berlin and Cologne. She was a member of the artistic directorate at the Theater am Turm in Frankfurt am Main and until 1989 vice-director in the Music, Theatre and Dance section of the Munich Municipal Department of Arts and Culture. From 1986–1989, she also worked as the curator for the City of Munich’s DANCE festival. She has been vice-director of the Bavarian State Ballet since 2000.

Rose Breuss
Rose Breuss studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, at the Theatre Department of the Amsterdam School of the Arts, at Temple University in Philadelphia and at the Laban Notation Institute at the University of Surrey. She has won numerous prizes for her choreographic work. She has been director of the Institute for Dance Arts at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, Austria, since 2007.
Bettina Masuch (first jury session only)
Bettina Masuch studied applied theatre studies at Justus Liebig University Giessen before working as a dramatic adviser at the Kaaitheater in Brussels, at the Theaterhaus Jena, at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin. She was curator for dance at the Hebbel am Ufer theatre in Berlin from 2003–2009 and has since been artistic director of the Springdance Festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Gabriele Naumann-Maerten (second jury session only)
Gabriele Naumann-Maerten studied educational science, out-of-school youth education and religious studies at the University of Hanover. From 1982–1987, she was co-founder of the Theaterbüro Hannover and artistic director of the city’s TanzTheater International festival. In 1988, she put together the musical Starlight Express as assistant to the general manager at Stella Management. She was artistic director of the Hamburg International Summer Festival from 1989-2000 and director of the Dance 2000 festival in Munich. In 2000, she obtained a certificate in change management, coaching and process consultancy. She was the cultural attaché for performing arts at the Canadian Embassy from 2001–2012. From 1997–1999, she was a member of the jury of the Capital Cultural Fund. She is currently focusing on cultural and artistic project development, process consulting and mediation.
Martin Puttke
Martin Puttke was a dancer at the Staatsoper Berlin from 1966 to 1970 and then studied at the Russian University of Theatre Arts in Moscow, graduating in 1975. He became artistic director of the State Ballet School of Berlin in 1979 and its director in 1991. In 1988, he became a professor at the Ernst Busch Academy for Dramatic Arts. He was ballet director at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin from 1990 to 1992 and at aalto-ballet-theater Essen from 1995 to 2008. He was spokesman for the Federal German Conference of Ballet and Dance Theatre Directors (BBTK) from 1999 to 2009 and now works as a professor of training methodology. He is the founder of the DANAMOS training concept.
Dr. Christiane Theobald
Dr. Theobald is a doctor of musicology and has a Master of Business Administration focusing on media administration. She wasthe dramatic adviser for ballet at the Deutsche Oper Berlin from 1987 to 1993, and at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden from 1993. In 1996, she became the production director for ballet at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. She was appointed deputy general director of the Staatsballett Berlin when the Berlin Opera Foundation was founded in 2004. She has also been a guest lecturer for ballet and dance history for 10 years at the Freie Universität Berlin. She currently teaches dance management at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main. She has also been the spokesperson for the Federal German Conference of Ballet and Dance Theatre Directors (BBTK) since 2009.
Prof. Dr. Christina Thurner
Prof. Dr. Thurner is a professor specialising in dance studies at the Institute of Theater Studies at Bern University in Switzerland. She has written for various publications as a dance journalist but mainly for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung newspaper. She was a member of the board of trustees of the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia and was on the board’s working group for theatre and dance. She is a member of the board of trustees of the Swiss Dance Archive and a member of the TanzKultur programme commission at Bern University.
